Career Profile

Dr. Marcellinus Chibueze Anaekwe is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Science Education at the NOUN. Mars, as he is fondly called, hails from Onneh in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State. He attended St. Peter’s Secondary School Achina and Federal Polytechnic, Oko before his university education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he emerged as the best graduating Ph.D. student among his set. Before joining NOUN, Dr. Anaekwe rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry Education, at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Anambra State. He also served as the Dean of the School of Sciences, the Director, of Academic Planning, and the Coordinator of Degree Programmes of the institution, in affiliation with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. 

Mars has supervised and mentored many undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has published widely in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He has attended many international workshops, seminars, and conferences. Dr Anaekwe is licensed with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), holds a Fellowship of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (FSTAN), and belongs to the National Association of Artificial Intelligence Practitioners (NAAIP), among several other professional Associations. Dr. Anaekwe has served on the Editorial Review Committee of some publications including the NOUN Journal of Education (NOUNJE), and the West African Journal of Open and Flexible Learning (WAJOFEL).
