Career Profile
My name is DR. Angela Ebere Abaa. I was employed by National Open University of Nigeria as a Student Counsellor on January 17, 2005, and deployed to Port Harcourt Study Centre.
From 2010 – 2012, I became the Acting Centre Director of Port Harcourt Centre. I also facilitated courses and examinations, moderated non-examinable courses/GST and counselled students.
In 2013, I was transferred to Uyo Study Centre. In 2015, I was appointed the Acting Director of Uyo Centre until 2017. Within this period, I got/acquired the permanent site of the Centre which became the central hub of the South-South Zone of the University. It was then that the first Conference Examination marking took place, which I organized. In that same year, 2017, I converted to an academic staff on Lecturer II. Later that year, I was transferred back to Port Harcourt Study Centre.
In Port Harcourt, I was in charge of all courses, Teaching Practice placement/ posting, Practicum/supervision, Faculty of Education Desk Officer, including screening of all Post Graduate Students.
In 2021, I was deployed to the Headquarters- Abuja, till date. I have risen to the rank of a Senior Lecturer and was assessed as a Reader in January, 2024, waiting to be pronounced as one. I am currently a Faculty Board member, Appraisal and Promotion Committee member. I facilitate a number of Education Courses, and Guidance and Counselling courses. I have have re-processed, scripted, written, and edited courses in Faculty Education for the University including Video recordings of assigned courses and Virtual Online Facilitation.
