May I on behalf of the Department, welcome you to this unique institution- the National Open University of Nigeria. NOUN is unique in providing accessible, flexible, affordable learning opportunities to all learners irrespective of age, occupation, location. You can learn at any place and at your pace, using a number of available technological devices, including your handset. Learning materials are available online and physically. They are equally accessible in varied forms- texts, CDs, Flash drives, video and audio devices. We encourage you to browse through the website and explore the rich contents available online and those embedded in students learning materials (SLMs).
Endeavour to participate in online facilitations, group discussions, use of SMS, phonecalls, e-mail in learning. Take your studies seriously; shun all forms of examination misconduct. Remember that NOUN has zero-tolerance for examination misconduct. We encourage you to ask questions or make suggestions that would help the department serve you better.

Science Education is geared towards the development of an individual, irrespective of time and physical distance, to make him/her a high caliber professional who is fully equipped with knowledge of the subject matter, scientific skill and attitudes as well as pedagogical know-how for impacting positively on the learner.
To provide highly accessible and enhanced quality education leading to the award of a bachelor’s degree anchored by social justice, equity, equality and national cohesion through a comprehensive reach (ODL) that transcends all barriers.
The department of Science Education offers seven undergraduate programmes and two Postgraduate programmes.
