Career Profile
Dr. Josiah Owolabi’s career has spanned over three decades. He began his journey at the International School, University of Lagos, where he earned recognition as the Best Mathematics Teacher for Junior Secondary Certificate Examination (JSCE) students in 1997. Following this, he transitioned to the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, where he held various teaching and administrative roles, such as head of the Mathematics Department, Deputy Director of the Degree Programme, and rose to the position of Chief Lecturer. His exceptional performance earned him multiple commendations, including an honorary award as the “Humblest and Considerate Lecturer” from NACOSS in 2001. In 2017, Dr. Owolabi joined the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), where he currently serves as a Reader in the Educational Evaluation unit of the Educational Foundations Department. At NOUN, he has been instrumental in advancing the quality of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) through roles such as Deputy Dean, Faculty Examination Officer, and Chair of the Faculty SIWES Committee among others. A leader in educational evaluation and technology integration, Dr. Owolabi has conducted groundbreaking research on virtual learning systems and mathematics education, winning some research grants. His career reflects a steadfast commitment to excellence, innovation, and the transformation of Nigeria’s educational landscape.
