Career Profile

Professor Samson Sunday Afolabi is a product of University of Lagos for his first degree in Mathematics Education (1989) and other higher degrees (PGD Statistics -1998, M.Ed.-2001 and Ph.D -2010 in Mathematics Education) from the University of Ibadan.
Prof S. S. Afolabi joined the the service of Oyo State College of Education, Oyo, Lanlate Campus in February 2005. There he started his profession in academia and spent about a decade in teaching, research and community development. In 2013, he joined the National Open University of Nigeria as Lecturer I. Since then, he has been coordinating Mathematics Education programme (2013-2021) and Computer Science Education programme (2015-2020). He has published widely in his area of specialisation (Mathematics Education). He has supervised not less than 50 students in project/dissertation writing both at the College, University and postgraduate levels and has successfully mentored a good number of them. He has published not less than 38 articles in local and international journals and co-authored a book on teaching methodology. Professor Afolabi has attended 56 learned conferences, workshops, seminar/webinar in which he presented papers and served as facilitator in few of them. He also serves as administrator in the capacity of NOUN Study Centre Director at the Special Study Centre for the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.
